The Hidden Out-Rigger

We designed an extension around an existing storage Out-rigger structure. The Out-rigger structure was tacked on as part of the original building. It had the unusual configuration that the structures depth went onto the neighbour’s land and their structure onto the owner’s land. Our solution was to build over the structure and extend beyond the existing structure. This created an unique form that saw the storage space become a Utility room and the main extension become a light filled multi-function space to accommodate a blended family.
